Depth of field: this is the distance between the nearest and farthest subjects in a scene that appear acceptably sharp in an image. The magnitude of the sharp area is effected by aperture, focal length and contrast between parts of the image.
Shallow depth of field: this is used to isolate the subject from a distracting background - the subject will be the only part of the image in focus. The smaller the f.stop, the shallower the depth of field, for example f2.8.
Wide depth of field: this is when the whole image is in focus, as there is no specific subject and so therefore the whole image is important. The higher the f.stop, the wider the depth of field.
Wide angle: when a lens has a short focal length, therefore having a field cover a wide angle.
